Lynda Otto
Algebra I Teacher and
Algebra I Co-Teacher

Some information about me...
Professional Highlights: This is my second year teaching at Granby High School.  I started teaching at Northside Middle School in November of 2001 until June of 2012. I was named Northside Middle School's Teacher of the Year and the 2007-2008 Middle School Teacher of the Year for Norfolk Public Schools. Prior to teaching at Northside and Granby, I taught overseas (in Korea and Japan), in Portsmouth, and at Western Branch High School in Chesapeake.
Educational Highlights: I received my BS in Marketing Management and Marketing Education from Virginia Tech and my MBA from Old Dominion University. I received additional teaching endorsements in special education (LD and ED) through courses taken at ODU, UVA, and the University of Central Arkansas and my middle school math endorsement for grades 6-8 through William and Mary, Norfolk State, and ODU.  I am seeking additional endorsements as a Math Specialist and Algebra add-on through a partnership grant (Tidewater Team to Improve Middle School Mathematics) at the College of William and Mary, Hampton University, and ODU. I am a product of Norfolk Public Schools having attended Stuart Elementary School, Blair Junior High, and Maury High School.
Currently I have been assigned to be the Algebra I teacher in the two-year Algebra I classroom and co-teacher in Algebra I (one year). In addition to teaching  the two-year algebra class, I work with the math teams to develop lesson plans that include activities and strategies that will engage all types of learners. I work within the classroom to assist struggling students with the math content. I also provide small group instruction to those students who may need additional help with the material. Please contact me with any concerns or comments about our Algebra program. I look forward to working with all of our algebra students this year.
