The Department of Special Education Services is on a journey to world-class status. Our department is committed to the challenge of engaging students in learning activities that will lead them to powerful literacy, help them exceed local, state and national standards, support a safe and disciplined learning environment and allow them to access exciting options and opportunities after graduation.

In addition to providing child specific, individualized and differentiated instruction, our department provides a full range of specialized educational services to students with disabilities. It is our goal to insure that each student with a disability has the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies consistent with hi/her potential to achieve.  This department supports the philosophy of teaching and learning in Norfolk Public Schools.
