General Statement

Norfolk Public Schools (NPS) is proud of the organized program of athletics offered for boys and girls in middle and high schools.  Our goal is to develop young men and women to be successful citizens in our highly competitive world.  Opportunities endorsed by the Virginia High School League (VHSL) in thirty-two athletic competitions plus debate, forensics, theater festival, school publication and academic competition, enhance a great number of students participation throughout the year.

The Virginia High School League has partnered with rSchoolToday in establishing a Web-based scheduling system for athletic events and activities for all high schools in the state of Virginia.  Norfolk Public Schools has linked to the new Web site for all its athletic schedules, activities and other important news that schools may need to convey to parents, students, staff and fans.  We encourage you to become familiar with the Web site, which is on the list of links at the left side of this page.  You will be able to locate your teams schedule, roster and results from games played.

In order to participate in athletics the parent/guardian along with the student athlete must annually review information on concussions and sign a statement acknowledging receipt and review of the concussion information.

Parent/Guardian and Student Athlete:

  • Review concussion information by attached video
  • Once viewed the parent/athlete letter will appear: READ, PRINT and SIGN the letter of acknowledging concussion information. This letter must be returned to the school’s athletic director before the student athlete is allowed to participate.
